Edgar Rice Burroughs and the Silver Screen Vol. 1 The Silent Years by Jerry Schneider

Chapter 6
Tarzan enttered through the door of the chief's hut in pursuit of Rokoff and hrled himself straight at Rokoff's.
The Russian went down under him and the two fought savagely.
As Gernot aimed his gunat the apema and fired the weapon, Tarzan flung Rokoff at the Frenchman, which caused the bullit to fly wild.
Tarzan attacked Gernot and after a brief struggle, flung him into a corner.
"Thinking escape lies through the rear door of the hut, the jungle superman opens it, and releases the ferocious beasts guarding the ivory."

Chapter 7 "The Jungle Trap"
When Tarzan saw the lions, he immediately slammed the door shut and held his weight against it. With a spear,
he opened the farther door, then opened the door holding the lions back. As Tarzan stayed behind the door,
the lions dashed in hot pursuit of Rokoff.
